Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Claims negotiable maximum within 14 days from end of charter provided client contacts base during charter to mention any problem.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~28 HP engine burn roughly 2.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 46 L ≈ €90 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What's included in a crewed charter rate?
The rate covers the yacht hire, insurance, a professional crew (fed and insured), ship's laundry and water. Fuel, all food and drinks, personal laundry, communication costs, canal dues, crew gratuity and VAT are not included.
How does the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) work?
On crewed charters the APA is a guarantee deposit that covers expenses not in the rate, such as food, fuel and harbour fees. It's usually around 20-30% of the charter fee, paid in cash, with a full account settled at the end of the charter.
Who decides the itinerary on a crewed charter?
We're happy to suggest an itinerary, but plans should stay flexible due to weather. The captain's decision is always final on matters of safety for the passengers and yacht.
Can we use the water-sports equipment and go diving?
Many yachts carry water-sports gear, which you can enjoy with care for swimmers and other boats. For scuba diving in Greece, you must dive with a local licensed instructor, as there are strict rules protecting underwater antiquities.
Is it customary to tip the crew?
Yes, if you're pleased with the service it's customary to leave a gratuity for the crew. The amount is at your discretion, typically in the range of 5-15% of the charter fee.
