Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer responsible for repair costs of damage not resulting from normal wear and tear
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~39 HP engine burn roughly 3.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 65 L ≈ €114 at €1.75/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Slovenia?
Must have valid sailing license (boat leader license and radiotelephony license) with adequate sailing and navigational skills
Are there restrictions on how I can use the yacht?
The yacht is for private leisure use only. You may not take part in regattas without prior agreement, tow other vessels except in a genuine emergency, lend the yacht to anyone else or use it for any commercial purpose. Only people listed on the crew list may stay aboard.
Will my sailing experience be checked before I take the boat?
In some cases, yes. If your sailing and navigational skills appear uncertain we may ask you to demonstrate them. If you don't have the required ability we can provide a skipper for an extra fee, or decline the charter.
Are there weather limits on when I can sail?
For your safety you should not leave port or anchorage when the wind is, or is forecast to be, above force 7 on the Beaufort scale (around 30 knots), or whenever the authorities have prohibited sailing. Always sail in line with your experience and the forecast.
Can I bring a pet on board?
Pets such as dogs or cats are not allowed unless arranged with us beforehand, so please ask us in advance if you'd like to bring one.
What condition should the yacht be returned in?
Please return the yacht clean, tidy and in good working order with a full fuel tank, in the same condition you received it. Check the engine oil and cooling water daily during your trip.
