Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: Charterer is liable for damage up to an agreed amount as per Clause 3b.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Where can we sail during the charter?
The yacht must stay within Greek seas; taking her outside that area requires our written consent. Please also plan your route so that you reach your farthest port within the first third of the charter, and are within about 40 nautical miles of the return point two days before the end.
Are there activities that are not allowed on board?
The yacht is for your private pleasure only. Racing, towing other craft (except in an emergency), subletting, and carrying more people on board at sea than the yacht’s maximum capacity are not permitted.
Do you check our sailing experience before we set off?
Yes. We ask at least one crew member to hold a sailing certificate and may request a résumé of your sailing experience. If we are not satisfied that the crew can handle the yacht safely, we may place an experienced seaman aboard at your expense for as long as we feel necessary.
What happens if something breaks down while we are at sea?
You should report any damage or failure to us promptly. Repairs that are not due to normal wear need our prior consent on the cost and suitability, and if the issue results from ordinary wear we will refund the cost against your receipts at the end of the charter.
What should we do if the yacht ever needs to be towed?
Please take every precaution to avoid needing a tow. If it becomes unavoidable, notify us immediately, and if you cannot reach us, agree the price with the other vessel’s captain before allowing the yacht to be towed.
