Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer responsible for security deposit amount for any loss or damage caused.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What if my sailing skills are doubted at check-in?
For bareboat charters, we may ask you to hire a skipper if any doubt about your sailing skills arises during embarkation, and the local port authorities may also request a sailing-experience declaration from the skipper. The skipper fee is agreed in writing beforehand and paid on embarkation.
Can I hire a skipper even if I'm an experienced sailor?
Absolutely. You can hire a professional skipper for as many days as you like, whether you need one or simply want a more relaxing holiday and the benefit of local knowledge. Please note the skipper needs their own cabin, as they're required to sleep on board for the whole charter.
How does the security deposit work if there's more than one incident?
The deposit covers you per accident. If an incident happens, you'll need to top the deposit back up to the original amount to stay covered against a second one, otherwise the charter agreement may be ended. On skippered charters the deposit is set at half price.
What should I do if I have a complaint during the charter?
Please let us know straight away when something happens, and put it in writing on disembarkation while the yacht can still be inspected. Complaints raised only after the charter has ended may not be considered.
