Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: Vessel covered by insurance policy against damages caused by charterer with deductible at charterer's cost. Third party incidents covered under same conditions.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~60 HP engines burn roughly 4.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 101 L ≈ €171 at €1.69/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Seychelles?
A recognised sailing licence such as an ICC or IYT qualification is required, together with an adequate sailing résumé.
Where are we allowed to sail?
Your cruising area is limited to the Inner Islands of the Seychelles. Taking the yacht beyond this area requires our written consent, and sailing without it leaves you liable for any financial and legal consequences.
Can we sail at night?
Night navigation is not allowed on our yachts, so please plan your passages to be safely at anchor or in port before dark.
What can we use the yacht for?
The yacht is for recreational cruising only. Please don't use her for business, commercial fishing, or chartering and sub-letting to others. Working in the Seychelles without a valid permit is illegal, and you'd be solely responsible for any such activity.
What should we do if something breaks during the charter?
For minor issues from normal wear and tear you may carry out repairs under 100 Euros yourself; keep the receipts and damaged parts and we'll reimburse you. For anything larger, check with us first.
What do we do after a sailing incident such as grounding or collision?
In the event of a sailing incident like dismasting, grounding, water ingress, fire or collision, please obtain a report from a relevant professional and send a copy to us and to the authorities as soon as possible.
When is the best time to sail in Seychelles?
Year-round; the calmer northwest-monsoon season runs October–April and the breezier southeast trades April–October.
