The Arc de Germanicus is a nearly 15-metre-tall Roman triumphal arch that has been standing since the 1st century AD, originally built to awe travelers entering the city and show off imperial power. It genuinely delivers on that front — the scale and the surviving imperial statues make it feel more substantial than your typical ancient ruin. It was actually relocated in the 19th century to save it from demolition during bridge construction, which adds another layer to its story.
