One of the oldest museums in Montenegro, the Maritime Museum of Kotor has been telling the story of the Adriatic Sea since 1900, housed in a striking Baroque palace in the heart of the old town. It grew out of a collection started by the Boka Marine Fraternity around 1880, so the roots here run genuinely deep. You'll find bronze panels, navigational instruments, ship models, and old portraits that make the seafaring history of the Boka Bay feel surprisingly personal. Well worth the detour off the main square.
