Arsenal

The Arsenal in Hvar Town is one of the best-preserved Venetian port buildings in Dalmatia — Venetian officials themselves called it 'the most beautiful and most useful building in all of Dalmatia.' Built to shelter and repair war galleys, it's dominated by a massive arched opening facing the harbor, big enough to swallow a boat whole. Today it functions as an entertainment and cultural venue, so you get centuries of history wrapped up in a space that's still very much alive.
