Black Poplar from 1667

Tucked along the old streets of Kotor, this ancient black poplar dates back to 1667, making it one of the oldest living things you'll encounter in the city. It's a gnarled, weatherous giant that most people walk right past — worth pausing at just to appreciate that this tree was already old when much of Europe's history was still being written. A quiet, surprisingly humbling little detour in the middle of a busy sightseeing day.
