Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Vessels covered with Kasko deductible franchises up to deposit amount. Compulsory Passenger Insurance and Compulsory Third Party Insurance included.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~90 HP engines burn roughly 7.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 151 L ≈ €258 at €1.71/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
Can I sail outside Croatian territorial waters?
Yes, but you must let us know in writing as early as possible and no later than 45 days before your charter begins, so we can arrange the extra cover. Any related costs are yours to bear.
May we take part in a regatta or race?
Only with our prior written consent. Racing charters have their own conditions, including a higher deposit.
Will my sailing experience be checked at the base?
We may ask you to demonstrate your competence by taking the yacht out with our representative aboard. If we feel you are not ready to command the boat, we will arrange a skipper for you, charged per the price list.
Can we bring a pet aboard?
Pets such as dogs, cats or birds are only allowed with our prior written consent.
When can't we leave port for safety reasons?
You should not leave port if the expected wind exceeds 25 knots or if the port authorities have banned departures. In rough weather, let us know your location so we can assist if needed.
When is the best time to sail in Spain?
April–October across the Balearics and Costa Brava; reliable warm summers, busiest in July–August with the occasional afternoon thermal breeze.
