Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Boat delivered insured with kasko (fully comprehensive) policy for Mediterranean up to total loss with allowance covered by Charterer's security deposit. Third party civil liabilities policy obligatory under current laws for damages to third parties.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~55 HP engine burn roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €179 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Are there limits on where I can sail?
The charts we provide cover a recommended sailing area suited to the boat's size and the distances involved. If you'd like to venture beyond it, you'll need to bring along your own detailed charts for those waters.
Can I bring pets aboard?
We ask that you keep animals off the boat during your charter.
What happens if something breaks down at sea?
Please contact us right away if anything is damaged and don't attempt repairs without our okay. If a key system like the engine, rigging, or sails fails through no fault of yours and keeps the boat out of use for more than 12 hours, we'll make up the lost time at the end of the charter or via a credit for a future one.
What should I avoid doing with the boat?
The boat is for pleasure use by you and your crew only, so carrying goods or passengers for hire, taking part in regattas, and towing other vessels (except in a genuine emergency) are not allowed. Please also turn the engine off when the boat heels more than 15 degrees.
What are the rules in bad weather?
Please follow any Port Authority orders and avoid sailing in seas above force six or whenever the forecast warns of dangerous conditions. Plan your itinerary so you can return on time even if you need to come back early because of the weather.
When is the best time to sail in Italy?
May–October, warm and settled in summer; July–August are hottest and busiest, with afternoon thermal breezes common.
