Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Hull insured with appropriate policies against damage to persons and third parties. Sails not covered; client bears all sail damage costs.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~75 HP engine burn roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €189 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Where can we sail?
You are free to cruise within the territorial waters of Turkey. Please plan your route so that two days before the end you are within about 40 nautical miles of the base, as the boat needs to be near the marina for the last 48 hours.
Will our sailing skills be checked before we set off?
Yes. We may ask you or your skipper to demonstrate your handling skills with a representative on board. If we feel the crew is not experienced enough, we will arrange a professional skipper at the current rate, and the boat cannot leave without one.
Can we bring a pet on board?
Pets such as dogs, cats or birds are only allowed on board with our written consent in advance, so please ask us before you book.
Are there things we are not allowed to do with the boat?
You may not sail at night or single-handed without our prior consent, take part in regattas or competitions without our written approval, or use the boat for any commercial purpose. Sailing under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden.
What should we do in bad weather?
Please do not leave port if winds are forecast above 25 knots or if the port authorities have issued a ban on leaving. In gale-force conditions, let the base manager know your exact location so we can support you.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
