Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Boat and equipment insured by Charter Company. Personal belongings, lost inventory, equipment, tender, outboard engine, sails damaged by weather, and persons not covered.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~75 HP engine burn roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €189 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Can I bring my pet on board?
You may only bring a pet with our written consent, agreed at the time of signing the contract. You take full responsibility for any damage caused by an animal on board.
Are there restrictions on how I use the boat?
The boat is strictly for travel and leisure use. You may not use it commercially to carry goods or people, take part in any racing, tow another boat (except in an emergency), or operate it under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Night sailing is only allowed with our written permission.
Can we sail to the Greek islands?
The charter is for Turkish waters by default, and you should stay within the cruising area agreed in your contract. If you would like to sail to the Greek islands, give us prior notice so we can arrange the customs paperwork; an extra clearance cost applies.
Will you check our sailing ability before departure?
Yes. We may ask you or your captain to demonstrate sailing skills, with the cost and time counting as part of the charter. If we conclude you are not qualified enough, you may need to sail with a captain we approve.
What should I do in bad weather?
Please sail only in suitable weather to avoid damaging the sails and rigging, and comply if the harbour authorities or we decide it is not safe to leave. Note that bad weather is not accepted as a reason for returning the boat late.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
