Charter boat fees on charter.boats come in three parts: the charter price for your dates, the fees the boat's operator charges, and one flat €45 platform fee per booking. All three are added into one all-in price, including the fees you pay at the base, so the total you see is the total you commit to.
All Fees In
The price you see on charter.boats is the all-in price for your dates. It adds up the charter, every fee the operator requires and the €45 platform fee into one figure. Required fees you settle at the base, such as a transit log, final cleaning, tourist tax or the skipper on a boat that must sail with one, are counted in it too, so the figure does not grow when you reach the marina.
Two things stay outside it. Optional extras are added only if you choose them. The refundable security deposit is listed apart, because it is held against damage and comes back to you, so it is not a cost of the charter.
The figure is the same wherever you meet it: in the search results, on the boat page and at checkout.
How Other Marketplaces Show Prices
Not every marketplace adds it up for you. We looked at summer 2027 weeks in Croatia and Greece in October 2026. On Boataround, the search results and the boat page lead with the charter price, marked on the boat page as including taxes and charges. Required items such as the transit log, €340 and €500 on the two boats we checked, and the tourist tax sit further down the page under excluded charges to be paid at pickup. They stay outside the total price on the booking page too.
On Click&Boat, the search results show a charter rate per day. The service fee, required packs such as final cleaning, a required skipper and the tourist tax are added into a total once you open a boat and pick your dates.
Seeing the whole figure from the first page lets you compare boats on what they will actually cost and rule out the ones over budget before you have spent time on them. You decide sooner, and on the right number.
The Charter Price
The charter price comes from the boat's seasonal price periods. Each operator sets date ranges with a price, and those periods repeat every year, so a week in late June is priced by the June period and a week in October by the autumn one. There is no separate weekday or holiday pricing. When you open the date picker on a boat, it shows the price for each day, which is the quickest way to see whether moving your trip by a week changes what you pay.
The Platform Fee
The platform fee is a flat €45 per booking, the same on every boat, whatever its size and however long you sail. It is what keeps the platform running. If you cancel, the platform fee is not refunded. If the operator cancels, you get everything back, the platform fee included.
Operator Fees
Operator fees are where boats differ most, so read them before you compare two boats on price alone. Each fee is either required or an optional extra, and each has its own basis. Some are charged once per booking, some per night, some per week, some per person (per night or per week), and some apply only to one-way trips. A few charter companies charge certain fees as a percentage. Typical examples are final cleaning, a skipper, a transit log, extra equipment or water toys. The boat page shows every fee with its basis, and at checkout you tick the optional extras you want.
Processing Allowance on Required Fees
Required fees that we collect for the operator carry a small processing allowance, because we are the ones taking that payment and paying the card charges on it. It is already inside the price you see rather than added at the end, and the operator receives their fee in full. Nothing about it changes what the boat page and checkout show you: the figure quoted is the figure you pay.
What You Pay, and Where
What's included and what you pay where matters as much as the amount. Every fee states whether it is paid online at checkout or to be paid at pickup, at the base, when you collect the boat. Both kinds are inside the total you see. Online fees are what you pay at checkout; pickup fees are counted in the same total and marked to be paid at the base, where you settle them with the operator directly. Nothing is added after you pay.
Security Deposit
The security deposit is not part of the price. It is a separate amount, set per boat and shown under Conditions on the boat's page, and how it is held depends on the boat. Our security deposit guide explains both cases and what happens after checkout.
Price Changes Before You Pay
Prices are set by the operator, but they can move before you pay. When an operator accepts your request, or while you are chatting with them, they can send you a special offer with a different price, fees or dates, and you decide whether to take it. If you have a coupon code, it discounts the charter price. Once you have paid, the price is locked: an operator can only change pricing while a booking is still unpaid.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation follows two steps, and one deduction runs through both. Cancel within 24 hours of paying for a refund of the charter price, less card processing. After that, the cancellation policy shown on the boat page and at checkout applies: a set percentage of the charter price back if you cancel a set number of days before the charter, nothing inside that window. Boats without their own policy, including boats listed directly with Charter Boats, give no refund after the first 24 hours. Card processing is deducted from whatever is refunded. The one case that runs the other way is the operator cancelling: then you get everything back, the platform fee included, with nothing deducted. Each boat's policy is shown on its page and at checkout before you book, and when you start a cancellation the exact figure you will receive is shown to you, itemised, before you confirm it. Reservations that a charter company has already confirmed in its own system are cancelled through that company.
For Boat Owners and Operators
If you own or operate boats, here is how the money reaches you. You are paid the charter price and the fees the guest paid online, less our commission, which is settled at payout rather than charged up front. What the commission is taken on depends on the boat: on boats that run through a charter company's MMK or Nausys system it is taken on the charter price, and on boats you list and price here yourself it is taken on everything we collect for you — the charter price and the required fees we bill with it — because those are the payments we carry and are charged for. Fees marked to be paid at pickup you collect from the guest yourself at the base, and nothing is taken from those. The €45 platform fee is paid by the guest and stays with the platform. Boats you list for direct payment are paid out the day after the charter starts, by bank transfer to the bank details you enter in Settings and then Payments. The short version: compare boats on their full total, not the headline price; check which fees are paid at the base; and note the cancellation policy before you book. If anything on a boat's price is unclear, ask the operator through the chat before you pay, or write to support@charter.boats.
