Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer liable for all damage occurring to yacht and crew during entire charter period.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~54 HP engine burn roughly 4.3 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 90 L ≈ €176 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can we sail at night?
Sailing is allowed only between civil dawn and civil twilight (roughly daylight hours). Night navigation is not permitted unless we authorise it in advance.
Are there limits on where we can sail?
You should stay within the recommended cruising area (within 12 nautical miles of the coast) and avoid the marked forbidden areas. Sailing further out needs our written authorisation and up-to-date charts.
What are the rules in bad weather?
Please follow any Port Authority instructions and do not sail in seas above force 5 on the Beaufort scale or when forecasts warn of dangerous conditions. Always anchor in a safe position and keep watch.
Can we take part in races or tow water toys?
Regattas and nautical events need our written authorisation and extra insurance, and towing, water-skiing and similar activities are not allowed. The boat is for recreational use by you and your crew only.
Can we bring pets, and is smoking allowed?
Animals are only allowed on board with our prior authorisation, so please ask before booking. Smoking below deck is not permitted.
