Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer responsible for all damages not resulting from normal vessel consumption
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~60 HP engine burn roughly 4.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 101 L ≈ €189 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring pets on board?
Pets such as dogs, cats or birds are not allowed on board unless you arrange it with us in advance.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must sail within Croatian territorial waters. Any exception requires our special written approval.
What can't I use the boat for?
The boat is for private pleasure only. You may not take part in regattas or races, use it commercially or for professional fishing or a sailing school, tow another vessel, or sublet or lend it to anyone else.
When should I not leave port?
Don't leave port or anchorage if the wind is or is expected to be over 30 knots, if the authorities have banned sailing, if any vital part of the boat isn't working, or if fuel is low or conditions are unsafe. Avoid sailing at night without all navigation lights and proper lookout.
Can you check our sailing ability before we set off?
Yes. We may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your ability to handle the boat at sea with our representative aboard. If we're not satisfied, we can place a qualified sailor aboard at your expense for as long as we judge necessary for safety.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
