Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Client is responsible for any damage, consumption, penalties, lost profits, or breakdown to the rental boat and auxiliary elements (including dinghy and outboard motor) without limitation to deposit amount, even after rental period ends.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 225 HP engine burn roughly 34 L/h — about €58 an hour at €1.71/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
What if our skipper does not seem experienced enough at handover?
We may ask your designated skipper to show their competence at check-in. If we feel the necessary experience is not there, we can assign a professional skipper for your safety, at your cost.
Where are we allowed to sail?
You are free to cruise within Spanish jurisdictional waters, staying inside the navigation area listed on the boat’s certificate. We also ask that you never leave the boat anchored or moored in open, unprotected bays with no one aboard, as that is not covered by insurance.
Can we use the boat for racing or commercial trips?
No, the boat is for private leisure cruising only. Taking part in regattas or any sporting competition is not allowed because the insurance does not cover it, and the boat may not be used commercially or sublet.
What should we do if something breaks down while we are out?
Please let us know right away about any incident, accident, or breakdown. If the outboard engine fails, we will come and assist you technically around the island of Ibiza.
Is there anything special we should know about using the toilet?
Please take care with the heads and do not flush toilet paper, wipes, cotton, or hygiene products, and leave the grey-water tank valves as you found them, since blockages cause real disruption and a repair charge.
About Club Naútico.
Club Náutico Ibiza sits right on Talamanca Beach, one of the calmer, more local-feeling bays on the island — a nice contrast to the chaos of Ibiza Town just minutes away. Read more →
