About this boat

We sail a brand-new Lagoon 42 Catamaran named "Aktaia" to her limits! This entrancing spirit of the Aegean Sea will take you where no one has ever been before. Our beautiful Catamaran Yacht shares the same qualities as the Nereid whose name it carries, sailing effortlessly in the Aegean Sea searching for the most unique and magical insular treasures. Aktaia is part of the crew and along with her experienced skippers they are called by the sea and are driven by their love for the Cyclades which they proudly call Home. These partners manage to travel safely in the Cycladic sea seeking adventure and sharing their hidden discoveries with their guests which a few seamen know. The experienced skippers of Niriides Cruises along with our soulful Catamaran, Aktaia, travel together almost all year round. During the summer season they guide their guests through an island-hopping experience in the Cyclades and during winter they spend their time increasing their sailing skills and searching idyllic locations accessible only by sea. Every rough weather is worth the challenge as the reward is priceless. Having all this knowledge accumulated and given our appetite for exploration, we invite you to come as a guest and leave as a friend on a trip where we sail the Cyclades in a totally different way. We chase endless sunsets and cosmic moons; in between, seals might play with us in magical bays and dolphins may keep us company during night sailing under the stars. We feel privileged to have witnessed the natural beauty of this region of Greece and honored to have met the people who live in the Cyclades as they are ones who make this part of the world so unique. These people are the ones from whom we are inspired to continue doing what we love by sharing what has captivated our souls with people who want to participate in this unique experience with us. We invite you to create new friends in the heart of the Cyclades with strong bonds which will last forever in your memories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Customers strongly recommended to take out adequate travel and health insurance covering cancellation, baggage loss/damage, medical and transport costs. Insurance must cover sailing/cruising/yachting in appropriate areas and if sailing more than 12 miles offshore.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €372 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Who is in charge during the voyage?
The skipper is responsible for the safety and comfort of the boat and everyone aboard, and the skipper's decisions are final on safety matters. By booking, you agree to abide by the skipper's authority throughout the trip.
Can the itinerary change?
Yes. The skipper may change the sequence of stops and ports due to weather, water levels, schedules or technical reasons, so the itinerary can't be guaranteed. Whether to sail in winds above Beaufort 7 is at the skipper's discretion for safety.
Can children come along?
Family groups of all ages are welcome, but we cannot accommodate unaccompanied children under 18. Parents or guardians are responsible for their children at all times.
Is smoking or drinking allowed on board?
Smoking is never permitted below deck, and smoking on deck is at the skipper's discretion. Consumption of alcohol at sea or in port is also at the skipper's discretion for safety reasons.
Do I need to tell you about medical conditions?
Yes. Please tell us in writing during booking about any medical conditions, disabilities needing assistance, pregnancy, or other health conditions that could affect safety or enjoyment, as some voyages may be unsuitable and undisclosed conditions can lead to being denied travel.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
