Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: Each yacht has obligatory insurance for all passengers. Customer covers repair expenses up to security deposit amount.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Where can I sail?
You're free to sail within Croatian waters and should follow all customs and local regulations. Please don't take the yacht outside Croatian waters.
Can I sail at night?
Yes, but only in safe weather conditions. We ask you to plan your route carefully and keep an eye on the forecast.
What if the base thinks I'm not experienced enough to skipper?
By signing the contract you confirm you hold an adequate skipper's certificate and have the skills to handle the yacht safely. If we or the base manager feel you're not ready to skipper alone, you can take on a professional skipper for an extra charge, or you can name another qualified skipper before you sail.
What's expected of me when I return the yacht?
Please return the yacht clean, in proper condition, and with a full fuel and water tank, just as it was handed to you. We carry out the check-out together at the agreed time and place.
What happens if I'm late returning the yacht?
For delays up to 3 hours you agree to pay one day's charter price, and for delays over 3 hours triple the daily charter fee. Delays are only excused for genuine acts of God, which you must report to us immediately.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
