Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Owner insures yacht against fire, marine and collision risks, third party damage and loss/damage in excess of security deposit per Greek Law. Charterer relieved of liability for covered losses unless caused by negligence or wilful default
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €372 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Are there things we're not allowed to do with the yacht?
The yacht is for your private pleasure only, so racing, towing other boats (except in an emergency) and subletting aren't permitted. You also can't take it outside Greek waters or carry anyone who isn't on the crew list without our written consent.
Will our sailing competence be checked?
Yes. The charter is based on the verified sailing qualifications of you or your skipper, and we may ask you and your crew to demonstrate you can handle the yacht safely at sea with our representative aboard. If needed, we can place a skipper on board at your expense.
In what weather can we not leave port?
For everyone's safety, please don't leave a port or anchorage when the wind is or is forecast to be over Beaufort force 6, when authorities have prohibited sailing, or when the yacht has any unrepaired damage. Avoid night sailing unless all navigation lights work and there's a proper watch on deck.
Are there limits on how far we can cruise?
Please plan your itinerary so you reach your farthest point within the first third of the charter, and so that two days before the end the yacht is no more than 40 nautical miles from the return port.
What happens if something breaks down during the charter?
Please notify us promptly and get our consent before any repair. For serious mechanical or electrical failures from normal wear, we have the right to repair the yacht within 36 hours of your notice. Repair costs from normal wear are refunded to you against receipts at the end.
