Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: Charterers are advised to obtain Travel Insurance and Skipper's Liability Insurance. Charter does not include Charterer's/Skipper's Liability Insurance, nor Cancellation and Curtailment Insurance.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €372 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Can I bring my dog or pet on board?
Yes, you can bring a small pet up to 4kg on board for a fee of 120 euros per charter. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare.
Do I need to prove my sailing experience?
Yes. One crew member must show the Port Authority a valid skipper certificate, and a second experienced crew member must be declared as co-skipper with equivalent certification or a signed self-declaration of sailing experience. If we feel your sailing skills are insufficient, we may require you to hire a professional skipper.
Is an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) required?
We strongly recommend holding an ICC, as Greek port authorities often reject Day Skipper certificates and any certificate marked for daylight use only when the charter exceeds 24 hours. Allow plenty of time before your trip to obtain one if needed.
Can I hire a skipper or hostess?
Yes, you can add a professional skipper at 190 euros per day or a hostess at 170 euros per day, both plus provisioning. A cook is also available on request. Crew costs are payable in cash at the base before embarkation.
Can I get internet on board?
Yes, you can add a Wi-Fi router for 50 euros per charter week, offering up to 10GB subject to mobile coverage in your sailing area.
