Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer responsible for all damage to yacht and crew during charter period.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~150 HP engines burn roughly 12 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 252 L ≈ €491 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Can I bring animals on board?
Animals are allowed on board only with our prior permission, so please ask us before you book.
Does the operator test the skipper's skills?
Yes. We may carry out a practical sea trial to check the skipper's competence. If we judge the skipper's knowledge or skills insufficient for the boat and the safety of those aboard, we can prevent departure or require a professional skipper at extra charge.
Can I bring water-sports equipment or go racing?
You'll need our authorization before bringing aboard gear such as windsurf boards, kite-surf equipment or canoes, or doing activities like water skiing. The boat may not be used for sailing lessons, practice maneuvers or racing without our written consent, and you must not tow or be towed except in an emergency.
Are there limits on where and when I can sail?
You must stay within the approved cruising area; sailing beyond it needs our written permission and updated charts. Please obey Port Authority orders on weather and avoid sailing in seas over force 5 Beaufort or when dangerous conditions are forecast, and keep within the boat's minimum and maximum crew limits.
What if something breaks during the charter?
Tell us straight away in the event of any damage, breakdown or accident, and only keep sailing if it won't make things worse and we approve. Please don't carry out unauthorized repairs.
