Lizard Island Anchorage

✨ Hidden gem

Drop anchor in Watson's Bay for solid protection from the prevailing southeasterlies at this remote island 50nm north of Cooktown. The setting is wild and stunning, with the Great Barrier Reef right on your doorstep and excellent snorkelling and diving practically off the stern. From here you can take a long, flat walk across to Blue Lagoon, and the Lizard Island Resort cocktail bar opens to non-guests on Tuesdays and Fridays if you fancy a cold drink and a meal ashore. Just make sure you anchor clear of the reef.
