Marina Chiavari sits right in the heart of town, so you step off the dock and you're already in the middle of everything — cafes, markets, the old caruggi lanes. It's a well-positioned base for exploring the Ligurian Riviera, with Portofino and Cinque Terre both within easy reach, and the French Riviera or Corsica a reasonable passage away. Genoa, a UNESCO World Heritage city, is just up the coast if you fancy a half-day excursion.
