Lingua

Lingua is a natural anchorage off the southern coast of Salina in the Aeolian Islands, where you drop the hook in calm, shallow water just a stone's throw from a tiny salt lagoon and a handful of laid-back bars and trattorias lining the shore. The setting is genuinely unhurried — Salina's green volcanic slopes rise behind you, and the lagoon, Lago Lingua, is one of the few in the whole archipelago, giving this spot a look unlike anywhere else in the Aeolians. It's a great base for exploring Salina on foot or by scooter, and the malvasia wine produced on the island is reason enough to linger.
