Otiao Bay

Otiao Bay is a large, well-sheltered anchorage tucked away on the mainland side of the Bay of Islands, offering good protection from the easterly swell that can rattle other spots. Most of the bay runs shallow, so you'll want to drop the hook near the entrance if you're drawing any depth. It's quiet and pretty, with a nice beach backing the bay — not as dramatic as the island anchorages, but a welcome change of pace from the busier spots.
