You anchor off in this horseshoe-shaped harbor on the north shore of Long Island, with Centre Island forming a sheltered natural breakwater in the middle. The Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor complex is considered the cleanest estuary in western Long Island Sound, so the water quality here is genuinely impressive. Ashore, the historic town of Oyster Bay — once home to Theodore Roosevelt — is worth exploring, with shops, restaurants, and Sagamore Hill National Historic Site all within reach.
