Pointe de la Parata Anchorage

Drop anchor off Pointe de la Parata, a dramatic peninsula jutting into the sea about 11km west of Ajaccio, where a ruined Genoese tower crowns the rocky headland and the Îles Sanguinaires scatter across the water in front of you. The sunsets here are legendary, with the islands silhouetted against the kind of orange-red sky that gives them their name — 'the bloody islands.' It's a wild, exposed spot with no facilities, so come prepared, but the scenery more than makes up for it.
