Port Saint-Gildas

Port Saint-Gildas sits off the Pointe de Saint-Gildas on the Côte de Jade, the westernmost tip of the Pays de Retz where the Loire estuary meets the open Atlantic. You anchor off here in the lee of the rocky headland, with wild, windswept coastline stretching in both directions and the lights of Pornic visible to the south on a clear evening. It's a raw, exposed spot best suited to settled weather, but the dramatic setting makes it well worth timing your visit right.
