Portobelo Bay

Drop anchor in one of the Caribbean's great natural harbors, a bay steeped in pirate lore and colonial history that still looks much as it did when Spanish galleons loaded silver here. You'll find good holding in calm, protected water around 7.5m deep, with an easy dinghy ride to the historic town of Portobelo — UNESCO ruins, a famous Black Christ shrine, and a laid-back waterfront all within reach. The sense of history here is genuinely hard to shake.
