Stansgate Spit

Stansgate Spit is a remote anchorage on the southern shore of the Blackwater Estuary, where you drop the hook off a quiet shingle spit with wide open tidal flats stretching around you. It's wonderfully isolated out here, with the ruins of Stansgate Abbey nearby and the atmospheric Essex marshes as your backdrop — don't expect any facilities, just good holding and a proper sense of getting away from it all.
