Tenpound Island

You anchor off Ten Pound Island, a small island sitting right in the middle of Gloucester Harbor with a striking 1881 cast iron lighthouse standing 30 feet tall at its center. The views back toward the historic fishing port are genuinely stunning, and the harbor scene around you — working boats, the waterfront, the wider Essex Bay beyond — makes this one of the most characterful anchorages on the North Shore. The island itself gained fame as early as 1817 and the lighthouse has been a landmark ever since.
