Old Port

The Vieux-Port (Old Port) is the beating heart of Marseille — a working marina with 3,200 berths right in the city center, framed by the iconic forts Saint-Jean and Saint-Nicolas guarding the entrance. It's been a hub of Mediterranean life since 600 BC, and today you'll find the famous daily fish market on the quayside, plus easy walking distance to Le Panier neighborhood, top restaurants, and the MuCEM museum. The port splits fairly evenly between sailboats and motorboats, and with a tight entrance channel, maneuvering in takes a bit of attention.
