Xigia

Drop anchor off Xigia Beach on Zakynthos and you'll notice the sea has an almost milky, turquoise tint — caused by natural sulphurous springs bubbling up from below, which gives the water a uniquely therapeutic quality. The bay is tucked and sheltered, with a mix of sand and clay pebbles backed by a small cave carved into the cliffs. It's a genuinely special spot, and the sulphur smell is a small price to pay for one of the more memorable swimming stops in the Ionian.
