Pier 55, better known as Little Island, is a genuinely one-of-a-kind public park that appears to float on the Hudson River, built atop a forest of tulip-shaped concrete pillars. Opened in 2021, it packs over 350 species of plants, a 687-seat amphitheater, and an intimate lawn stage into a surprisingly lush and dreamy escape right off the west side of Manhattan.
