Sant'Efisio Martire

This is the church dedicated to Sant'Efisio, Cagliari's beloved martyr-soldier and one of Sardinia's most venerated saints. Every year on May 1st, it's the starting point of an enormous festival — one of Italy's most spectacular religious processions — that draws thousands of people and sends the whole city into a joyful standstill. The connection between this saint and the Cagliari community runs genuinely deep, with the faithful showing up in traditional Sardinian costume to accompany the statue on its journey to Nora and back.
