The Museo Diocesano di Arte Sacra has been housed since 1976 in the former Convent of Sant'Apollonia, home to what many consider the most serene and beautiful Romanesque cloister in all of Venice. The collection brings together sacred art spanning centuries, from paintings and sculptures to liturgical objects rescued from deconsecrated churches across the city. It's a surprisingly quiet escape from the crowds just steps from the Basilica di San Marco, and the cloister alone is worth the detour.
