The Loggiato di San Bartolomeo is all that's left of a 17th-century hospital that was leveled by WWII bombing raids in 1943 — making it one of Palermo's more haunting historical footnotes. Today the elegant surviving arcade hosts rotating temporary art exhibitions, so what you'll find inside depends entirely on when you show up. The architecture alone is worth the stop, even if there's nothing on display.
