Chiesa delle Anime del Purgatorio

Built in 1688 with its facade finished in 1712, this church is home to something genuinely special: the Misteri, a collection of 20 elaborate sculptural groups that are paraded through Trapani in one of Sicily's most dramatic Good Friday processions. It's as much a museum of sacred art as a place of worship. The church sits on the small Piazzetta Purgatorio along Via San Francesco d'Assisi, and even outside of Easter week, stepping inside to see these remarkable figures up close is worth your time.
