Collegiate Church of Saint Lawrence

This is one of Malta's most storied churches, sitting in the historic fortified city of Birgu (Vittoriosa). Designed by Lorenzo Gafà — the same architect behind several of Malta's great baroque churches — it was closely tied to the Knights of Malta and served as their parish church. The weight of that history is genuinely palpable here, given Birgu's role as the Knights' original base before Valletta was even built.
