Østre Gasværk Teater

Østre Gasværk Teater is one of Copenhagen's most atmospheric performance spaces, housed inside a converted 19th-century gasholder in Østerbro that was deliberately kept raw and industrial when it became a theatre in the early 1980s. The circular brick interior gives productions a truly unique backdrop you won't find in a conventional theatre. It hosts everything from big-budget musicals like Les Misérables to classic plays, all with a gritty, intimate energy that the architecture naturally creates.
