This Arab-Norman fortress dates back to the 9th century and sits right on Trapani's waterfront, making it one of the oldest and most storied landmarks in the area. Also known as Torre della Colombaia, it was once home to Sicilian viceroys and later served as a prison — layers of history you can almost feel just standing outside. The views of it from the sea are stunning, and up close it gives you a real sense of how strategically important Trapani's coastline has been for over a thousand years.
