Håkonshallen

Attraction· 5 min from marina (341m)

Håkon's Hall is one of Norway's most impressive medieval buildings, built between 1247 and 1261 by King Håkon Håkonsson as a royal residence and grand banqueting hall. When Bergen was the political capital of Norway, this was the largest royal hall in the country — and it still stands today as the main building of Norway's first castle complex. Walking through it gives you a real sense of medieval Norse power, with the scale and stonework telling the story far better than any textbook.
