The Banco di Napoli has a history stretching back to the charitable public banks of 15th-century Naples, making it one of the oldest banking institutions in the world. It played a defining role in financing southern Italy's economy through its most turbulent periods. Just know that the bank officially closed in 2018 and was absorbed into Intesa Sanpaolo, so what you'll find today operates under that name.
