Scheepsarcheologie

Scheepsarcheologie is the ship archaeology section of Batavialand, where you can get up close with real VOC-era shipwrecks and artifacts pulled from the Flevoland seabed — things that were buried underwater for centuries until the land was drained. You'll also find a stunning full-scale replica of the 17th-century merchant ship Batavia, built by hand using traditional techniques. It's a surprisingly gripping mix of history, craftsmanship, and detective work that goes way beyond a typical museum experience.
