Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht is insured for liability and hull damage. The deductible equals the agreed deposit.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~80 HP engines burn roughly 6.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 134 L ≈ €251 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog on board?
Animals are only allowed with the written permission of the base, so please ask before you book and get the approval in writing.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
You can't carry goods for payment, and towing is only allowed to help a ship in distress when no other rescue is possible. Please also don't run the motor of a sailing yacht tilted, and use the engine only as long as necessary.
How many people can come aboard?
Only the people on your crew list may be on board on a continual basis. The charter agreement is made with the whole crew, who share responsibility for it.
What happens if bad weather delays my return?
Weather difficulties don't excuse a late return, so plan some buffer time. A late return can be charged at 200% of the charter fee for the overrun period, plus possible compensation if it affects the next charter.
What condition should I return the boat in?
Please return the boat cleaned. If final cleaning is included in your booking, that means broom-swept with clean dishes and cooking utensils, otherwise cleaning may be charged to you. Report any lost, damaged or non-working equipment straight away and have it noted in the log or check-out list.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
