Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The operator delivers the boat insured against third-party liability and with own-damage cover for total or partial loss. The operator's policies do not cover loss of or damage to property of the Lessee or transported persons, liability for third-party property, or family…
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €372 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring my dog or other pets on board?
Not without asking first. No animals may be kept aboard unless we have given our prior consent, so please check with us before you book.
Where am I allowed to sail, and are there limits on how I use the boat?
The boat is for leisure use only, within the agreed cruising area, and you may not leave Italian territorial waters without our permission. No commercial use, racing without our written permission, towing others except in an emergency, or navigation lessons. Weapons and narcotics are not allowed aboard.
What happens if the weather turns bad during my trip?
Safety comes first. You must stay in port, or head to the nearest safe shelter, if the wind and sea are at or forecast to exceed the limits in our terms (around force 5-6, or waves over 2 metres). We are not liable for delays or interrupted cruises caused by weather or port authority orders, and the charter period is not extended.
What experience does the skipper need?
The person in command must be approved by us and hold certification valid in Italy. If we feel the skills on board are not enough for this boat, we may offer one of our trusted skippers at your expense. If you decline, the charter ends and we keep the payments received.
What condition should I return the boat in, and what if something breaks?
Return the boat in the condition you received it, with the galley cooker and crockery perfectly clean. Otherwise an extra EUR 100 is charged. If anything breaks or there is an accident, report it to us in writing within 24 hours and get our written approval before arranging repairs, otherwise they will not be reimbursed.
