Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Damage repairs charged per schedule: fiberglass scrape 125€ each, toilet blockage 475€ each, other work 38€/hour, drying and washing from 220V cable in water 125€ each.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~150 HP engines burn roughly 12 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 252 L ≈ €431 at €1.71/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
Is there a limit on how far I can sail?
Yes, a weekly charter includes up to 60 nautical miles. Any miles beyond that are charged at 0.95 EUR per mile based on the GPS log, so plan longer trips like a round trip to Ibiza with that in mind.
Can I dock at ports other than the home base?
You are responsible for arranging the necessary permits to embark or disembark at any port other than the home base in Valencia. Without authorisation from the relevant port authority, boarding or leaving at another port is not permitted.
What happens if a storm is forecast?
If a storm warning is issued before departure, we will look for new dates within the available fleet. If a warning comes after you have set off, you must return to base if we ask you to, and ignoring that instruction means losing your deposit even if no damage occurs.
What if the boat breaks down while I'm away?
Technical assistance is only guaranteed at the home base. If a breakdown happens while you are at the islands, we cannot guarantee a repair until the boat returns to base.
For a bareboat charter, do you check the skipper's experience?
Yes. For a bareboat (no skipper) charter, your booking is only confirmed once we have reviewed and accepted the proposed skipper's sailing licence and record of nautical experience.
