Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: All vessels have Casco insurance with a deductible up to the deposit amount in the current price list, plus compulsory passenger insurance and compulsory third-party insurance. Personal belongings are not insured.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~160 HP engines burn roughly 12.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 269 L ≈ €503 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Pets are not allowed unless you get our prior written consent, so please ask before you book and wait for our confirmation in writing.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
You can't sublet the boat, use it commercially, or take more people aboard than are on your crew list. On bareboat charters you also can't sail at night, enter regattas without our approval, or fish or dive without valid licences.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
On bareboat charters you shouldn't leave port when winds above 25 knots are expected or the port authority has banned departure. On crewed charters the skipper decides whether to sail or stay put and agrees a new plan with you. We aren't liable for delays caused by rough weather.
Can I sail outside Croatian waters?
Yes, but you must tell us in writing at least 45 days before your charter starts, because we have to arrange extra insurance, which you pay for.
What if the operator isn't sure I'm experienced enough to skipper?
On bareboat charters we may ask you to show your skills by sailing the boat with our representative, and that time counts as your charter time. If we find you aren't competent, we assign a skipper at the price list rate, and if you refuse, you can't leave port and the charter ends without a refund.
