Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Vessel is fully insured against third-party damage, fire, explosion, theft, robbery, natural disasters, marine and collision risks. Insurance terms require damage was not caused deliberately or by gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~160 HP engines burn roughly 12.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 269 L ≈ €503 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
What happens if our sailing experience is not enough?
You must be able to operate the boat and its equipment safely in all conditions. If we find that you or your crew lack the necessary nautical competence, we may require a professional skipper for part or all of the charter, at your expense.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You may sail exclusively within the territorial waters of Croatia, unless we agree otherwise in writing. We may also restrict the boats range or impose a ban on night navigation when conditions are unsafe.
Are there restrictions on how I can use the boat?
Yes. You may not exceed the maximum number of people on board, carry passengers for hire, do commercial fishing or any other gainful activity, sub-charter the boat, take part in regattas without our permission, or tow other vessels except in an emergency.
Can I bring pets on board?
You may only bring animals on board with our explicit written permission.
What should I do if something breaks down at sea?
Inform us immediately by calling the base manager or the numbers in the boats documents. We will repair the fault as soon as objectively possible, and if it is fixed within 24 hours of your notice you are not entitled to any compensation.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
